The Palestinian Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel (PACBI) was launched in 2004 to contribute to the struggle for Palestinian freedom, justice, and equality. It advocates for a boycott of Israeli academic and cultural institutions due to their deep and ongoing complicity in Israel’s denial of Palestinian rights as enshrined in international law.
PACBI is one of the founding members of the Palestinian BDS National Committee (BNC) and is responsible for overseeing the academic and cultural boycott aspects of BDS.
The BNC, including PACBI, is committed to freedom of expression as enshrined in the United Nations International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) and, as such, rejects in principle boycotts of individuals based on their opinions or identities (such as citizenship, race, gender, or religion).
